Locals have always known how great the milk produced in the Riverina is, but now it seems the rest of Australia is jumping on the bandwagon.
For the second year in a row, Wagga-based Riverina Fresh has been named the top-rated fresh-milk brand in Australia, winning back-to-back Finder Retail Awards.
Riverina Fresh CEO Rob Collier said it was a great result.
“Riverina Fresh is highly regarded by consumers, many of whom buy our product for its great drinking taste and to also use in their coffee at home,” he said.
The award is decided through feedback from thousands of consumers who are surveyed on taste, freshness, packaging design and value for money.
The independent milk brand scored highly across the board, including 97 per cent of those polled confirming that they would recommend Riverina Fresh to others.
Riverina Fresh is celebrating its centenary this year and has been raking in the awards.
It picked up gold medals at the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW Sydney Royal Awards and swept the board at the 2022 Dairy Industry Association (DIAA) NSW Awards.
It was the first time in DIAA history that any producer had won for each category of fresh white milk it produces.
Mr Collier said it had been an extraordinary way to celebrate the 100-year milestone.
“We couldn’t be prouder of our farmers, employees and partners, who work together to produce premium-quality, 100 per cent Australian-owned milk products from the heart of the Riverina,” he said.
“To do all of this in our centenary year is a great boost to our ongoing celebrations.”
Founded in 1922 as the Murrumbidgee Co-Operative Dairy Co Ltd, the company began as a milk and butter factory and iceworks servicing the Wagga district.
The company now employs about 160 people and remains on the original site in Wagga’s Hammond Avenue.
The well-known Riverina brand began expanding its operation into larger metro markets about a decade ago, and is now used widely by cafes and is a familiar sight in supermarkets across NSW, the ACT and Victoria.
Tens of millions of litres of milk flow from the Wagga operation each year, drawing its product from 20 Riverina farmers and more than 10,000 head of cattle.
