A young person has been arrested after allegedly breaking into the police station in Darlington Point, a small town 36 km south of Griffith.
Police inspector Glenn Smith informed Region the incident allegedly occurred just before 9 pm on Sunday (7 April).
The off-duty lockup keeper at Darlington Point Station heard yelling and the sound of items being thrown around, coming from the nearby unattended police station (which is not open for the full 24 hours in a day). The officer contacted the Griffith Police station, and a short time later, more police arrived at the location and met with the officer.
Police who arrived on the scene saw that the front door was damaged and found a young male inside the station. This young person was arrested and later charged with breaking and entering, committing a serious indictable offence and a breach of bail. The young person was refused bail and conveyed to Wagga.
