Wagga is staging its inaugural Fringe Festival with a lineup of brilliant talent or for more chilled vibes, visit Yarran Wines for a relaxing day amongst the vineyards.
Cosentino, Australia’s most famous illusionist and magician will be in town to captivate audiences with his mind-boggling tricks and illusions.
There are workshops where kids can pick up a new skill, a charity car and bike show and Hay is launching a beautiful floating lanterns event.

Country and barbecue – what a combo. High energy group Southbound XO headlines this event highlighting local country rock talent, complemented by an open mic session mid-afternoon in Marie Bashir Park. Various barbecue demonstrations and culinary offerings throughout the day will also include local community barbecues, Indigenous-style, American-style and adventurous international flavours.

Make a day trip to Yarran Wines on Saturday for a relaxed afternoon among the vines. There is no time limit for lawn bookings. You can settle in for the entire afternoon with your family and friends and enjoy good wine, beer, gin and tonics, live music and great food.

Everyone is invited to the Marramarra Aboriginal Markets for a fun family day with children’s activities, food, market stalls with Aboriginal giftware and Aboriginal art and a coffee van. Live music comes courtesy of Tahaliana, Lawrence Barlow and Amanda Hayes. There will also be a live cooking demo from Kooking with a Koori and traditional dance.

For those big on Christmas spirit, this event is billed as an “over-the-top” Christmas market. Expect stalls dripping with festive decorations and jam-packed with all your Christmas shopping needs in one place. But if things are not your “thing” there will be plenty more attractions, from astrological readings to chocolate wheels, buskers, mini train rides and much more.

Hay is inviting everyone to its first-ever floating lanterns event – Hay Glow. Students in Hay have made floating lanterns which they will carry in a lantern parade before launching them onto the Hay Pond. The pond will be aglow with lanterns, including a giant turtle and a Murray Cod. Expect a fantastic evening with live music, kebabs, Dutch pancakes and coffee. BYO rug and refreshments – soft drinks will be available to purchase from the food vans.

Sign the kids up for a fun after-school activity of creating collagraph plates and developing a printing plate. It’s an excellent opportunity for the children to discover the printmaking process, from applying ink to using a printmaking press. Tickets include materials, tuition and a light snack and participants should wear old clothes and closed in shoes.
