The Riverina is a playground for foodies and this weekend, there are a select few places left for Sunday’s big country lunch at Borambola Winery that celebrates what the region has to offer.

Featuring slow cooked Highfield lamb shoulder, Harefield pistachio crumble, Wollundry Grove olives, barbecued chicken maryland with Wagga black garlic and leek cream, full circle espresso tiramisu with Junee ‘chocolate dust’, and a lot more, the Sunday Drive Lunch on 21 September is part of the Riverina Good Food Weekend.

Borambola Winery’s Tim McMullen said there were a few places left for those who wanted to enjoy an incredibly delicious lunch at their new venue the Vine Shed.

“At the moment the country is absolutely spectacular and the crops are all up,” he said.

“The views from our venue are majestic and you couldn’t ask for a better place in the world than in the Riverina right now.”

Tim said the Sunday Drive Lunch at Borambola Winery was inspired by their friends Zoe and Frank Lamont’s Riverina Good Food Weekend at Harefield where they are playing host to 250 guests.

“We’re piggybacking on that and basically we are utilising a range of fresh produce from the Riverina under the expert hand of local chef Jamie Shepley,” he said.

You may know Jamie from Wagga’s Roundabout Restaurant, or The Oakroom, or perhaps Graze in Junee, but this weekend Jamie, who owns two of Wagga’s hottest food spots – Hide Steak and Bar in Morgan Street and Mr Lawrence in Fitzmaurice Street – will showcase his skills to Borambola Winery for an unforgettable Sunday roast.

“We love nothing more than throwing a big country lunch and Borambola Winery is the perfect backdrop for good wine, great food, and plenty of laughs,” he said.

“The Riverina Good Food Weekend is about celebrating our food bowl, so we’re putting local flavours on the table and making Sunday feel a little extra special.”

I’m very disappointed that I have only heard about the Riverina Good Food Weekend in the days before it! What do I have to subscribe to in order to know well in advance for next year’s?
