A Yanco man allegedly tried to avoid a drink-driving stop by pulling into a stranger’s driveway in Leeton.
Police allege officers attempted to stop a white Ford Ranger for a roadside breath test about 1 am on Saturday 19 September on Lilac Avenue.
The Ranger stopped in the driveway of a home.
Police asked the 44-year-old driver whether it was his address.
He allegedly confirmed it was not.
The man was given a roadside breath test – which allegedly returned a positive reading – before he was arrested and taken to Leeton Police Station for further testing.
A breath analysis allegedly recorded 0.173 grams of alcohol per 210 litres of breath, placing the reading in the high-range category.
The man’s licence was suspended immediately and he was issued a suspension notice.
He was also issued a Field Court Attendance Notice and is due to appear before Leeton Local Court on 10 November.
