Police allege a Griffith woman spent two hours filling a shopping trolley with items before threatening to stab a retail worker with a nail file when challenged at the checkout.
Murrumbidgee Police allege the 31-year-old entered a department store on Banna Avenue at about 10:10 am on Friday (19 June) and spent about two hours moving through the store collecting items until her trolley was full.
Staff allegedly observed the woman scan only a can of Coke and some lollies before attempting to leave the store. Police allege she presented two receipts totalling $16.50 to an employee at the exit.
When staff questioned why the receipts did not match the contents of the trolley, police allege the woman produced a nail file and threatened to stab the worker.
Officers were called to the store and arrived a short time later. Police allege the woman provided a false name before attempting to leave.
A subsequent search of her bag allegedly uncovered 2.15 grams of methamphetamine, a second quantity of 1.41 grams of methamphetamine, a magnetic security tag removal tool and a small digital pocket scale.
Police allege the woman became extremely agitated after the drugs were found and ran from the store.
She was apprehended nearby and allegedly resisted police before being arrested.
While being placed in the rear of a police truck, police allege the woman began yelling that she had a gun and was going to harm herself.
A female officer was called to the scene to conduct a search, however no firearm was located.
The woman was taken to Griffith Police Station and charged with intimidating a retail worker, intimidating police (two counts), supplying a prohibited drug, goods in custody and being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence.
She was granted conditional bail and is due to appear before Griffith Local Court on 22 July.
