With the Australian federal election just 12 days away, Riverina voters can head to the pre-polls tomorrow (22 April) to vote early for who they would like to see lead the country for the next three years.
While the election date is set for Saturday 3 May, pre-polling begins on Tuesday and will run up to and including Friday 2 May.
The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) allows you to vote early if on polling day you:
- are outside the electorate where you are enrolled to vote
- are more than 8 km from a polling place
- are travelling
- are unable to leave your workplace to vote
- are seriously ill, infirm or due to give birth shortly (or caring for someone who is)
- are a person with disability (or caring for someone who is)
- are a patient in hospital and can’t vote at the hospital
- have religious beliefs that prevent you from attending a polling place
- are in prison serving a sentence of less than three years or otherwise detained
- are a silent elector
- have a reasonable fear for your safety or wellbeing.

Mobile Voting
AEC mobile voting teams assist those who cannot travel to a polling booth. They will visit residential aged care homes, public and private hospitals, mental health services, residential locations for people living with disability, homelessness services, correctional facilities, non-remote discrete Indigenous communities, and some Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations across Australia.
