Social media lit up last night after numerous police cars were spotted heading to the Wagga RAAF Base.
Department of Defence said in a statement the RAAF Base was placed in lockdown while NSW Police conducted a search for a person on the base.
“The person in question has been found and the base lockdown lifted,” the Defence spokesperson said.
“No base personnel were harmed or injured, and we thank the NSW emergency services for their immediate response.”
NSW Police said officers from Riverina Police District were called to a property at Forest Hill at about 6:30 pm on Saturday (10 December), due to concerns for the welfare of a 30-year-old man.
Police were assisted by officers attached to specialist units including PolAir, State Protection Support Unit, Negotiators and the Dog Unit.
The man then returned home before being taken to Wagga Base Hospital for an assessment at about 5:45 am on Sunday (11 December).
More to come.
