Griffith police are investigating two separate fire-related incidents that occurred this past week – two cars allegedly stolen from Collina before being set alight in Braeburn Avenue, and a house blaze in Phillip Place near Parkinson Crescent.

Two cars set alight

District Inspector Glenn Smith told Region the incident involving the cars occurred in the early hours of Friday (29 November).

Unknown people allegedly entered a residence in Nicholls Street, Collina, via an unlocked front door. Once inside, the offenders allegedly took two sets of car keys, belonging to a Kia and a Subaru parked at the front of the premises.

About 2:30 am the same morning, police responded to reports of two vehicles on fire in Braeburn Avenue between Locklea Park and Evanside Parade at Griffith.

The cars were found to be the missing Kia and Subaru. It is also believed the cars were used to damage the surface of Ted Scobie Oval at Collina.
