Two of Wagga’s busiest roads are set for facelifts with work beginning on Dobney Avenue and Pearson Street tomorrow (Wednesday 20 April).
The $5.6 million rehabilitation will be carried out at night between 6 pm and 6 am to reduce the impact on businesses and motorists.
The council’s director of infrastructure services Warren Faulkner said while motorists should expect delays over the next nine weeks, the inconvenience will be worth it.
“These are two of the busiest roads in our city’s sub-arterial network, with upward of 16,000 vehicle movements per day on Pearson Street and around 5500 on Dobney Avenue,” he said.
The work will begin on the Sturt Highway end of Dobney Avenue before moving on to Pearson Street and the roundabouts outside Bunnings.
Seventy-five per cent of the funding has come from the NSW Government’s Fixing Local Roads program and Wagga Wagga City Council provided the balance.
