Three years after a man was arrested at Wagga Wagga Police Station and charged with murder, police say they have found human remains believed to be those of the woman at the centre of the case.

The remains were discovered during a search of a property in Sydney’s west on Thursday (11 June), marking a major development in the long-running investigation into the disappearance of 71-year-old Nadire Sensoy.

Ms Sensoy was last seen at her home in Prospect, in Sydney’s west, in December 2018.

Blacktown Police established Strike Force Admirality later that month to investigate her disappearance. Detectives made public appeals for information and a reward was offered in 2020 as the search for answers continued.

In March 2023, a coronial inquest into Ms Sensoy’s death began but was suspended shortly afterwards when new information came to light.

Days later, on 21 March 2023, police arrested a 47-year-old man at Wagga Wagga Police Station and charged him with domestic violence-related murder. He was refused bail at Wagga Wagga Local Court and his case remains before the courts.

Police allege the man murdered Ms Sensoy, who was known to him, sometime between 6 and 11 December 2018 in the Blacktown area.

On Tuesday (9 June), officers attached to Mt Druitt and Blacktown police area commands began searching a property on Powers Road at Seven Hills as part of ongoing investigations.

During the search, officers located human remains.

While forensic testing is yet to be completed, police say they believe the remains are those of Ms Sensoy.

The remains will undergo further examination to formally determine their identity.

Investigations under Strike Force Admirality are continuing.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
