The Riverina is alive this week with a whole lot to see and do, from live music to tribute shows, art exhibitions, special clubbing events and performances.

The classic children’s tale Peter Pan comes to the Cube in Wodonga this week. Performed by the Albury Wodonga Youth Ballet, this special retelling sheds new light on a much-loved classic.

Tumut River Brewing Company holds a night of country music and cold brews with a Luke Combs tribute show.

The Wagga Civic Theatre hosts renowned jazz vocalist Emma Pask as she showcases a broad spectrum of her musical talent.

House of Gold – New exhibition at the Wagga Art Gallery

When: 8 to 13 November, during normal gallery hours
Where: Wagga Wagga Art Gallery and National Art Glass Gallery, Civic Centre, corner of Baylis and Morrow streets

Artist Christian Thompson’s works are deeply connected to the concept of identity and they span a broad range of disciplines such as performance, sculpture, photography, sound and moving image.

This exhibition was inspired by a line from a Song Dynasty poem, “A book in the hands holds a house of gold”, and it draws from Thompson’s Chinese ancestry, which dates back to the 1850s Gold Rush migration.

Chronicling Thompson’s personal history, the works in this exhibition detail the dialogue between his two ancestries, First Nations Bidjara and Cantonese, with a focus on how language, food and a sense of self make a whole.

Julie Blyfield: Chasing a Passion – Exhibition at the Griffith Regional Gallery

When: 8 to 13 November, during normal gallery hours
Where: Griffith Regional Art Gallery, 167 Banna Avenue, Griffith
Cost: Free.

Blyfield was inspired by visits to the Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef for her works in this exhibition, showcasing traditional metalsmithing techniques to make bizarre and alluring objects.

Using a broad array of metals, Blyfield has replicated the patterns, textures and shapes of the natural world, with a particular focus on Australian botanicals. A decorative artist with years of experience, Blyfield has works in the permanent collections of the Musée des Arts Decoratifs in Paris and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Peter Pan – Albury Wodonga Youth Ballet

The classic tale of Peter Pan hits the stage in ballet form as the Albury Wodonga Youth Ballet brings the world of Neverland to life.

A magical evening awaits at the Cube as some talented young dancers tell the story of Wendy as she’s transported to a bizarre world of nefarious pirate chiefs and menacing crocodiles, where the young never grow old.
