There’s plenty to get excited for in the Riverina this week, with rodeos, live music, tribute acts, Christmas markets, Melbourne Cup Day events and more.

Charles Sturt University hosts the Digital Agrifood Summit, showcasing the future of agriculture, with hands-on experiences, talks from panels of industry leaders, as well as networking events to get you in touch with primary producers.

Wagga Wagga’s Diwali festival brings the Riverina’s multicultural communities to the forefront, with traditional food, dances, cultural dress and live music.

And a tribute act at the Wagga Civic Theatre brings the music of Roy Orbison, Elvis and Johnny Cash roaring into the 21st century.

The Digital Agrifood Summit is giving primary producers in the Riverina the chance to deep-dive into the topics shaping the future of agriculture in Australia.

Across four days, the summit offers a broad range of educational events, including immersive activities offering hands-on experiences across livestock technology, biosolutions, climate-smart agriculture and the future of education in the agriculture workforce.

There will also be plenty of conference talks from industry leaders on subjects such as the use of technology in agriculture, climate policy relating to agricultural producers, resilience in the agrifood chain and commercialisation.

In addition, the summit will include networking events so primary producers can get to know colleagues in the area.

The Cootamundra Rodeo is bringing heaps of fun to town this weekend over two days of horsemanship, thrills and spills.

Friday night’s events and attractions include novice saddle events, steer undecorating, steer wrestling, U11 barrel and more, as well as food, live music and market stalls.

Saturday’s attractions include bull riding, roping events, steer wrestling, bareback riding as well as plenty of food vans, market stalls, amusements and bar facilities.

The Rock Christmas Markets is the best place to find a Christmas gift this weekend as there will be more than 100 stalls, with plenty of food, handmade goods, artisanal goods and coffee. There will also be kids’ entertainment throughout the day. Come check it out and enjoy the relaxed community vibes.

Wagga Wagga Diwali invites the whole community to celebrate Indian culture with food vendors, a traditional dress parade for kids, Indian and Bollywood cultural dances, singing and awards presentations, as well as a DJ playing for the community.

Chath Silva comes to the CSU Riverina Playhouse to perform traditional guitar pieces from contemporary to classical composers, including such names as Bach, Albeniz and Barrios, across French, Spanish, Turkish and Greek styles of classical guitar.

Chath gave his first recital at the age of 15 and since then, he has been performing throughout his medical career. Don’t miss out on this chance to see a virtuoso of classical guitar in concert.

On the Night invites you to come listen to iconic music from Dire Straits this Saturday. This tribute act brings together eight musicians with years of experience to perform the music of Dire Straits, a band that redefined rock. Join them for a night of music and nostalgia.. One night in Memphis brings together three performers paying tribute to some of the most prolific and beloved artists of the 20th century for a night of incredible music.

Aaron Mansfield performs the music of Roy Orbison with an exceptional talent and stage presence to replicate a towering figure of mid-century music. Anthony Fenech brings energy and flair to his award-winning tribute to Elvis Presley.

And finally, Matt Birse embodies the great Johnny Cash, performing the best songs from the Man in Black’s broad repertoire.

Timeless Melodies: The Art of Violin and Piano

Join violinist Kaori Sparks and pianist Helena Kernaghan as they use all their musical talent and passion to perform a varied musical program.

Playing contemporary music as well as beloved classics, this performance will include Stravinsky’s Suite Italienne, Brahms’ Violin Sonata in D minor as well as the world premiere of Gordon Kerry’s Sonata No. 2 for violin and piano.

There will also be post-show entertainment with local pianist Brigita Serbinek, a young performer making waves in the region’s music scene, having won 1st place in the 17 Years and Over Classical Piano section at the Wangaratta Eisteddfod.
