The Riverina is bustling this week with a whole lot of art, shows, inclusive events for kids, live music, comedy showcases and musicals.
Wagga Wagga’s annual show has chalked up more than a century and a half of operation and there’s no chance Wagga will let that milestone pass without a proper celebration. There’ll be everything from a stockman show, fireworks displays, rides and even a jetpack demonstration if you can believe it.
Griffith hosts everyone’s favourite musical with a community production of Mamma Mia, with a cast and production team of locals putting on a real show.
The Sydney Comedy Showcase comes to Wagga, bringing a host of great comics all the way to the Riverina to make you laugh.

This exhibition by artist Mary Coughlan shows a series of crafted textile works, needlework, tapestry, quilting and applique which Coughlan used to help her deal with childhood trauma, telling a story of abuse, shame but also determination and strength. These works reveal a personal journey of recognition and change throughout the process of dealing with trauma, informed by intimate individual history as well as time spent as a social worker.
This is a heartfelt and emotional exhibition detailing the process of healing and it shows the role that art can play in overcoming injustices.
Please note that the exhibition contains sensitive content relating to experiences of trauma, sexual assault, gender-based violence and death. Parental guidance is recommended for those under 18.

Marrar Madness Wrangler Extreme Broncs
When: 12 to 14 September

Xtreme Broncs 2025 is bringing bull riding, bronco riding, steer wrestling, campdrafting and kids events to the Riverina. The best riders will go head-to-head in competition to establish who is the best horseman in the region. More than just a show of horsemanship, this show occupying a full weekend will also have plenty of live music, food vendors and a bar to keep you occupied in between the adrenaline-fuelled shows.

Wagga Wagga Show

The Wagga Wagga Show is celebrating an incredible 158 years and making sure that it’s a real occasion. This show will have horses, cattle, show dogs, chooks, prizes, food stalls, show bags, rides, a stockman show, jetpack demonstrations, a circus, an animal nursery, fireworks and reptile encounters. Don’t miss out on a Riverina tradition this week.

Mamma Mia Community Musical at the Griffith Regional Theatre

One of the most popular musicals in recent memory is coming to Griffith, with a full line-up of local performers and production crew to tell the tale.
A young bride invites three men to her wedding without telling her mother, hoping to solve the mystery of who her true father is, which she believes she can figure out before the big day.
The much-loved, now-classic story of love, family and romance is full of heartfelt moments as well as a full discography of ABBA tunes. Everyone from musical tragics to ABBA fans and theatre buffs will find something to love at the Mamma Mia community musical.

Spring in the Springs – Community event in Rankins Springs

Celebrate the coming of spring in the tiny Riverina town of Rankins Springs.
Though the town is small, the community is getting out and about to celebrate the warmer weather with CWA market stalls, live music, barbecues, displays of art and photography, activities for kids such as jumping castles, face painting and even laser tag.
There’s a lot for the whole family to get up to this Saturday in Rankins Springs. Come see the whole town out in full force.

100 Women, 100 Stories at the Wagga Civic Theatre

One hundred women’s voices from across the Riverina join as one at the Wagga Civic Theatre at this special performance, sharing stories of resilience, community and reflection. Recorded interviews from 100 women were given to six award-winning Australian female composers who crafted those stories into one cohesive whole. No matter your gender, this is a great chance to get together and experience a vivid materialisation of community spirit and female power.

Hyphen’s Auslan and English storytime brings kids with hearing issues together to discover fun stories and have fun with each other, building literacy, communication, creativity, community and a love of stories and reading. The Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase is bringing the absolute cream of the comedy crop to the regions this week with a two-hour performance of veteran comics, fresh talent and side-splitting jokes.
