The Temora Shire community is invited to provide feedback online on the new hospital master plan.
The $80 million Temora Health Service redevelopment was unveiled in July, with community sessions for feedback.
Those who missed the in-person sessions have until 7 August to provide feedback via an online survey.
NSW Health executive director for rural and regional health infrastructure, Amanda Bock, said the redevelopment would take place on the existing hospital site and deliver contemporary health services and facilities to the community.
She said the redevelopment was set to start in 2024 and work would be carried out in stages to ensure clinical services remained operational during construction.
“The Temora Hospital master plan is an exciting step forward in the delivery of this major health investment, outlining the vision for the redevelopment, which will provide an enhanced and modern health facility to support the wellbeing of patients, carers and staff,” Ms Bock said.
“It’s so important we maximise the hospital’s wonderful location on the hill overlooking Temora, while also ensuring the redevelopment is tailored to the community’s future health needs.”
Ms Bock said the master plan included new on-site accommodation that would allow health workers to stay close to work in a comfortable space.
The master plan also includes an operating theatre and procedure room, ambulatory clinics, enhanced medical imaging with the addition of ultrasound and CT to the existing X-ray service, dental, pathology, and community and allied health.
The plan is set to allow the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) to offer patients a contemporary model of health care that integrates services from the acute and non-hospital settings such as inpatient care, maternity services, surgical services, community health, mental health, and drug and alcohol and oral health.
The master plan will take advantage of the site’s orientation to bring natural light into the hospital, including inpatient bedrooms, while providing optimal views of the arboretum.
The hospital will continue to provide emergency department services.
Ms Bock said valued input had been provided by the MLHD, Temora Health Service staff and clinicians in planning and designing the redevelopment.
“We’re now encouraging the Temora Shire community to view the latest plans and provide their feedback, which will help shape the redevelopment as planning progresses,” she said.
