A teenager is facing Children’s Court today (Tuesday, 8 November) following an alleged stabbing at Young High School.
Police were called to the school about 1:15 pm on Monday (7 November) following reports of a student armed with a pair of scissors.
When emergency services arrived they found a 15-year-old boy with a puncture wound to his ribs, as well as a scratch on his back.
A Department of Education spokesperson confirmed there was an incident at the school.
“First aid was immediately provided to a student who was injured,” the spokesperson said.
“Care and support is being provided to those impacted. As the matter is now subject to a NSW Police investigation, it would be inappropriate to comment further.”
The injured student was treated at the scene before being taken to Young Hospital. He’s since been released.
The school was placed into lockdown, with police arresting a 15-year-old boy on Campbell Street soon after.
He was taken to Young Police Station and charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, reckless wounding, armed with intent to commit indictable offence, and have custody of an offensive implement in a school.
