Riverina Police chased a teenager who allegedly jumped over several fences to evade officers, before arresting him and charging him with a string of property offences and outstanding warrants.
At about 10:30 am on Tuesday (1 April), officers from the Riverina Police District Proactive Crime Team attempted to stop a vehicle in Ashmont.
After police attempted to stop the car, the front seat passenger exited the vehicle and allegedly leaped over the fences while officers chased him on foot.
Police arrested the boy after he entered a house on Connorton Avenue in Ashmont.
He was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was charged with 15 offences by way of warrants, including:
Driving a conveyance taken without the consent of the owner (four counts).
Driving while unlicensed (four counts).
Not stopping during a police pursuit and driving dangerously.
Driving in a manner dangerous.
Aggravated breaking, entering and stealing.
Entering a building with intent to commit an indictable offence.
Entering a vehicle without consent of owner.
Committing a Section 114 offence having been previously convicted.
The boy was refused bail to appear in a children’s court on Wednesday 2 April.
