Wagga Wagga’s much-loved multicultural festival, Fusion Botanical, is set to return to the Botanic Gardens this spring.

Wagga Wagga City Council and its long-term cultural partner, the Multicultural Council of Wagga, are calling for expressions of interest from local food and drink vendors and performers who are keen to feed and entertain festival-goers.

The Botanic Gardens will spring to life on Saturday, 19 October, from 4 pm to 9 pm with live music, food and entertainment.

The festival is an opportunity for the Wagga community to celebrate the 110 cultures that form its rich tapestry.

Council director of community Janice Summerhayes said the 2024 festival was expected to draw crowds from across the Riverina.

“Our Fusion festival has grown to become a highlight on the regional events calendar since its inception in 2011,” Ms Summerhayes said.

“Planning is underway for this year’s Fusion in October, and we’re curating a fun, diverse line-up of music and entertainment to be announced closer to the event.

“Along with the live music, the street food precinct is one of the most popular parts of this community event. Festival-goers can look forward to feasting on authentic and modern street-style food.”

Ms Summerhayes said the World Food Village represented several geographical regions, from Europe to the Middle East to Asia and the Americas.

“We’re also looking for community performers to help add to the vibrant festival atmosphere,” she said.

To ensure a wide variety of authentic international street food-style options, festival management does not permit the sale of fast food such as battered fish, chicken nuggets, hamburgers, deep-fried cinnamon donuts, fairy floss, hot chips, or spiral spuds.

To apply to sell food or drink, or entertain, visit the Fusion festival website and make a submission before 5 pm on Friday, 16 August. Applicants will be emailed the result of their submission by Monday, 16 September.
