Who are you and what is your business? I’m Sara Coates from Primal Alternative, and we make grain-free bread which is all naturally gluten-free.
Where did you begin? I moved to Wagga two years, and I didn’t find there were a lot of options for healthy alternatives to normal bread. I signed up for Primal Alternative and started doing it myself from my kitchen.
What do you produce? Bread, wraps, pizza bases, cookies, granola and packet mixes so you can make your own bread at home.
Where can we buy your products? At the Riverina Producers’ Market. I’m here (Producers’ Market) every Thursday. It’s also available from the Red Pomegranate.
What should we buy for gifts this Christmas? I’m doing a mince pie tart – gluten-free, dairy-free and with no added sugar.
What’s your favourite product that you make? I like making pizza bases – it’s almost meditative.
What would you make if you could do anything? It’s going to be my own recipe. The next product I’m looking at is gluten-free sourdough.
How would you promote the Riverina? I tell people to come to the farmers’ market because that’s a great place to do your weekly shopping. For people that are new in the area … do local shopping and support local farmers.
Coolest local thing you’ve ever bought? I bought a beautiful painting of flowers from a local artist.
Who is another local producer you admire? I admire a lot of the people here at the farmers’ market. Everyone does really good things and actually care for the environment, their animals and the production of whatever they’re making. They take pride in their work. I also appreciate what the Red Pomegranate does. They are absolutely beautiful people.
What do you want for Christmas? I asked for a clock radio for my bedroom.
