Who are you and what is your business? My name is Katrine Jarvis and my business is Wattle Cottage. I’m a stay-at-home mum who loves growing plants from seeds. I have a variety of vegetable seedlings, herb plants, and flowers.
Where did you begin? When my boys were young, about eight to 10 years ago, I started growing the plants as a bit of a sideline – a hobby.
What do you produce? I grow seasonal veggie plants, usually heirloom varieties. I grow various herbs that can be used for medicine, culinary or tea. I also grow flowers to attract insects that are beneficial for the garden.
What do you sell that makes a great gift? You can make a pot of a variety of different herbs, or maybe if someone’s interested in growing their food, give them some vegetable seedlings.
What would you make if you could do anything? That’s a good question. I feel like I’m doing all I want to do now, which is great.
How would you promote the Riverina? Come and have a look at all the great old towns and farms. There’s a lot of history. Come around, especially during the canola season. It is beautiful driving around the countryside.
Where’s your favourite place for a cuppa? The Olde General Store. It is a new shop in Cootamundra. They sell a variety of local products as well as tea, coffee and cakes.
Who is another local producer you admire? Any of these guys here [Riverina Producers’ Market]. They do a fantastic job.

Region Riverina is committed to celebrating our local producers and creatives and encourages everyone to buy locally.
