Who are you and what is your business? My name is Kerrie Grant and my small business is called Kerrie May Designs. Kerrie May Designs was founded with a lifelong passion for art and a desire to share my creativity with the local community. My journey began with a vision to create one-of-a-kind custom art pieces that evoke emotions and leave a lasting impression on my customers.
Where did you begin? I have always been an artist; however, when my last child left home on a professional dance scholarship I was able to start focusing more on myself and my art. In 2019, I started selling my art pieces and established a website, www.kerriemaydesigns.com.au.
What do you produce? I create original wall art with the use of many different art mediums. Along with my artworks, I also create original earrings, “one-of-a-kind” designs and a gorgeous range of organic skin balms and natural perfumes.
What do you sell that makes a great gift? I create small to large art pieces; no two artworks are the same. I also have small gift packs available in store at Self-Made Marketplace, Lavington Square, of my skincare and jewellery available.
What would you make if you could do anything? I love to experiment, so the sky is the limit with art. I have a habit of going down a rabbit hole, so creativity is endless. I love to create statement pieces for the home. I hope to expand on my skincare line. I believe that skin health is as important as the food you eat. I love the experimentation of this process.
Where can we buy your products? I can be found online at www.kerriemaydesigns.com.au, or my art, jewellery and skincare can be purchased from Self-Made Marketplace, Lavington Square.
How would you promote the Riverina? I was born in Albury, raised my children and established my life and business here. Albury has all the services you require. There is so much local talent in our region or have come from our local area. Artists who sing, dance, act or create with their hands.
Coolest local thing you’ve ever bought? Not necessarily bought, but creating two large spaces within my home has been an absolute treat. I have a designated art and sewing room that houses all my supplies and these spaces enable me to hide away and create.
Where’s your favourite place for a cuppa? Take a trip down to Gardens Cafe at Albury Gardens Medical Centre and try the original blend they have on offer there. I also highly recommend Platform 9 Coffee on Townsend Street.
Who is another local producer you admire? Newmarket Store & Catering on Borella Road – I could be biased as Todd is my partner, however, he won me over with his food 17 years ago!
I love the innovative designs that are in store at Self-Made Marketplace and will always be grateful to Bec for allowing me to enter her store and sell so many of my creations. I have purchased several items from Lyons Woodturning as gifts for my family.
Region Riverina is committed to celebrating our local producers and creatives and encourages everyone to buy locally.
