A 50-year-old man has been refused bail after police allegedly seized nearly 50 kilograms of cannabis and $5000 in cash in Temora earlier this week.

Police said Riverina Traffic and Highway Patrol officers were conducting random breath testing on the Burley Griffin Way when they pulled over a Kia Carnival at about 11 am on 18 June.

The driver allegedly returned a positive drug test and was arrested and taken to Temora Police Station for a secondary test, with results awaiting testing.

Police searched the vehicle and allegedly located five storage bags, containing vacuum seal bags allegedly containing 49.65 kilograms of cannabis and close to $5000 in cash.

The man was charged with supplying prohibited drug – commercial quantity and dealing with proceeds of crime.

He appeared before Wagga Wagga Local Court on 19 June where he was refused bail to reappear before Cootamundra Local Court on 19 August.
