Do you have a connection to the Region? What and when was your last visit?
We have family in Griffith so we visit the area regularly. Pete’s (husband Peter Stefanovic) younger brother and his wife, Jenna, are raising their two kids and building a business on Jenna’s family’s almond farm, Mandole Orchard. We were last there in August 2022 when we spent a weekend in the blossoming almond trees with our boys, who naturally love spending time with their cousins (and their very big toys) on the farm.
Favourite part of the Region?
Mandole Orchard goes into full bloom for a few short weeks around August each year and it is truly the most spectacular sight.
What was your best food experience?
Jenna’s mum, Annette (or Tootie, to us), is a phenomenal cook and whips up the most amazing gnocchi from scratch for a “lazy” Sunday lunch.
But if you’re going to drag me away from Tootie’s kitchen, it would be for Bull and Bell Steakhouse in the heart of Griffith. They do a beautiful job of highlighting local produce throughout their menu, including Mandole Orchard almond milk. Go with an empty stomach and save room for a vanilla panna cotta.
What’s a “must do” when in the Region?
Visit La Piccola cafe for a world-class espresso and the most authentic Italian experience in the southern hemisphere.

Fly with kids. Drive without.

Why should someone who hasn’t visited here make the trip?
Aside from the beautiful scenery and world-class produce, the Riverina boats so many unique communities with their own culture and heritage. It is such a vibrant region and a great example of a thriving rural area.
