Murrumbidgee Police have allegedly found both a modified air gun and a “white crystal substance” while searching the home of a 39-year-old Griffith man.

At about 9:40 am on Thursday (15 May), officers attended an address in Garton Place in the south of the town, where they conducted a firearms prohibition order and weapons prohibition order search on a home that was not allowed to store firearms.

Police will allege that during a search of the premises, they located a modified air gun that resembled a firearm.

The occupant of the house, the 39-year-old man, was arrested and taken to Griffith Police Station.

During a subsequent search warrant, police allegedly located a clear plastic container in the garage that contained a white crystal substance, believed to be methylamphetamine.

The man was charged with possessing an unregistered firearm that was not a pistol/prohibited firearm and not keeping a firearm safely while he was subject to a firearms prohibition order.

He was initially refused bail and appeared before Griffith Local Court on Thursday (15 May), where he was granted conditional bail.
