A Griffith man who allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading more than three times the legal limit has been unable to show officers his driver’s licence, say Murrumbidgee Police.
Around 11:55 pm on Sunday (9 March), police were conducting proactive patrols along Remembrance Drive, Griffith, and saw a white Ford Ranger travelling in a northerly direction.
Police observed the vehicle’s activated high beams and decreasing speed. They also noticed the vehicle pull over onto gravel road to a stop.
Police stopped the caged vehicle behind the Ford Ranger and approached the driver’s side door. Officers spoke to the driver and will allege they immediately noticed a strong scent of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle and conducted a roadside breath test on the man.
The breath test allegedly returned a positive result and he was placed under arrest for the purpose of a breath analysis at Griffith Police Station.
Officers took the man to the station where he was submitted to a breath analysis which allegedly returned a reading of 0.186 grams of alcohol per 210 litres of breath.
Police allege he was asked to produce his driver’s licence, however was unable to so.
Police allege they made inquiries as to whether the man holds or has ever tried to obtain an Australian driver’s licence, and it was revealed that he has not.
Its a sad story. I'm not sure how he was considered a bushranger. Certainly not a typical bushranger View
