Four people have been charged with drug and weapon offences following an ongoing investigation into the supply of drugs in the southern Riverina.
In March, officers attached to Murray River Police District established Strike Force Bodallin to investigate the supply and distribution of prohibited drugs in the areas of Murray River Police District.
Police allege a number of people were involved in the supply of drugs – believed to be methylamphetamine – in the Tocumwal, Berrigan and Finley areas.
Following inquiries, just after 8 am on Wednesday 30 April, strike force detectives, with the assistance from State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad, executed four simultaneous search warrants in the Finley, Tocumwal and Berigan areas where they arrested two men – aged 43 and 24 – and two women – aged 58 and 37.
Officers from Victoria Police executed a search warrant in the Strathmerton area on the same day where they arrested two people and seized an amount of drugs, believed to be linked to the investigation under Strike Force Bodallin.
The 37-year-old woman was charged with 78 offences relating to drug supply, in addition to knowingly/recklessly directing a criminal group and assisting a crime and possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit.
She was refused bail to appear in Deniliquin Local Court on Tuesday 13 May.
The 24-year-old man was charged with 20 offences including participating in a criminal group, seven counts of knowingly taking part in the supply of a prohibited drug, three counts of possessing a prohibited weapon, and knowingly allowing the use of their own home as a drug premises.
The 58-year-old woman was charged with five offences including participating in a criminal group, and four counts of knowingly taking part in the supply of a prohibited drug.
She was refused bail to appear in Deniliquin Local Court on 13 May.
The 43-year-old man was charged with supplying a prohibited drug less than or equal to a small quantity, supplying a prohibited drug and participating in a criminal group contributing to criminal activity, and possessing a prohibited drug.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Finley Local Court on 27 May.
