Murray River Police have charged a third person over the alleged supply of methylamphetamine and firearms along the NSW-Victoria border as investigations under Strike Force Nettin continue.
Strike Force Nettin was established in August 2024 by officers attached to Murray River Police District – with assistance from Victoria Police – to investigate the manufacture and supply of firearms and prohibited drugs across the Murray River region and border towns.
Since then, as part of ongoing investigations, strike force officers have located and seized firearm manufacturing equipment, several privately-manufactured firearms and prohibited firearms, and have charged two people over their alleged role in the syndicate.
Following further investigations, strike force officers executed a firearm prohibition order (FPO) compliance check at a home on Church Street, Corowa, about 9:45 am on Wednesday (10 December).
During the FPO, strike force officers allegedly located and seized 25g methylamphetamine – with an estimated potential street value of $4000 – MDMA pills, $2235 cash and drug paraphernalia.
Following the search, officers arrested a 38-year-old man and took him to Albury Police Station.
He was charged with 21 offences including:
- Supplying a prohibited drug more than indictable and less than commercial quantity (four counts).
- Supplying a prohibited drug more than small and less than indictable quantity (five counts).
- Supplying a prohibited drug less than or equal to small quantity (four counts).
