A South Australian driver will face court after NSW police allegedly found 448 vapes in his vehicle near the town of Hay.
About 2 pm on Friday (16 August), Traffic and Highway Patrol Command officers conducted a vehicle stop on a white South Australian-registered Mitsubishi Outlander in relation to an alleged speeding offence on the Sturt Highway, Hay.
The 25-year-old driver showed officers a South Australian licence. Police established cause for a vehicle search, during which 448 vapes were found in the rear cargo area.
The driver was arrested and taken to Hay police station with several exhibits, including the vapes, a mobile telephone and a book containing sales information.
The estimated street value of the 448 vapes allegedly found is $15,680. The total value of the excise allegedly avoided is $10,192.
The driver was served with a Field Court Attendance Notice to attend Hay Local Court on 3 December, 2024, for allegedly being unlawfully in possession of vapes.
