An allegedly stolen air rifle has been recovered from a Griffith shed alongside a motorcycle allegedly stolen from North Albury.
Police attended an address in Foster Place, Griffith, at about 10:40 pm on Sunday (2 August) after receiving information about one of two motorcycles allegedly stolen from a North Albury address.
Police allege that during a search of a shed on the property, officers located one of the Yamaha YZ250F motorcycles.
They allege a brown leather gun bag was sitting in plain sight on a box in the shed.
Inside the bag was a .177 Diana air rifle which had allegedly been stolen during a break-and-enter at a Hillston address in about July or August 2023.
The rifle was seized by police.
The two Yamaha motorcycles were allegedly stolen from an address in North Albury at about 3:45 am on 22 July.
Images of the motorcycles were widely circulated on social media, with sightings reported to the owner and police.
At about 7:45 pm on 3 August, a 51-year-old man attended Griffith Police Station, where he was interviewed and allegedly made admissions to possessing the firearm.
He was arrested and charged with possessing a stolen firearm, possessing an unauthorised firearm, not keeping a firearm safely and breach of bail.
The man was refused bail and appeared before Bail Division Court 5 on 4 August, where he was remanded in custody.
He will next appear before Griffith Local Court on Thursday 1 October.
Investigations into the Yamaha motorcycle are continuing.
