A Griffith man is set to face court after allegedly returning a blood alcohol reading more than eight times the legal limit following a police pursuit in the city’s west.

At about 7:40 pm on Thursday (25 June), officers from the Murrumbidgee Police District attempted to stop a white Peugeot on Kidman Way, Griffith.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.

The vehicle was stopped a short time later on Lamari Drive, Griffith, where police subjected the driver – a 27-year-old man – to a roadside breath test, which allegedly returned a positive result.

He was taken to Griffith Police Station for a secondary breath analysis, which allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.423.

Police allege the man was also driving without a required interlock device.

He was charged with failing to stop, driving a vehicle without an interlock device, and having a high range prescribed concentration of alcohol (second offence).

The man was granted conditional bail to appear before Griffith Local Court on Wednesday July 15.
