One dead as ute crashes, catches fire near Griffith

A person has died when their ute left the road, crashed and caught fire about 50 km east of Griffith on the weekend.

Emergency services were alerted at about 9:30 am on Saturday (1 November), when the burnt-out ute was found just off Kolkilbertoo Road, Barellan.

The body of the driver was found inside; however, is yet to be identified.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish identity and confirm the cause of death.
