There is plenty to see and do this weekend, including markets, race days, theatre experiences, roller discos and the trusted experience of enjoying a movie at the cinema.

Saturday kicks off the fun with the ErinEarth Student for Sustainability Festival, Aggies Race Day, Markets by the Lake, a Disney-inspired show at the Wagga Wagga Civic Theatre, a Roller Disco at Bolton Park, a one-of-a-kind air show at the Temora Aviation Museum and a night of German cuisine at the Curious Rabbit.

Cap off the week at the theatre with a show like no other when John Waters puts on a tribute to John Lennon.

A new batch of movies has arrived at Forum 6 Cinemas, with DC’s newest superhero Blue Beetle, the sequel to the 2018 horror smash The Nun, and hopefully third time’s the charm in My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3. As always there is something for every moviegoer to enjoy at the fantastic Forum 6 Cinemas.

ErinEarth – Students for Sustainability Festival

When: 16 September from 9:30 am – 2 pm
Where: ErinEarth Wagga
Cost: Free.

Head to ErinEarth this Saturday to check out the great work that Riverina students have been doing in the environmental sustainability space. Live music will be performed by the amazing Rory Phillips. Rory’s climate anthem The Truth achieved a top ten spot in the Climate Fridays Song Writing Competition 2020 and secured him a finalist spot in the inaugural Environmental Music Prize in 2022.

With student sustainability displays, homemade morning tea, native and vegetable plant sales, kids’ activities, sausage sandwiches and their famous ErinEarth veggie burgers, this festival is not to be missed.

Where: Murrumbidgee Turf Club
Cost: General admission tickets $26.50.

Come along for a great day of racing at the Murrumbidgee Turf Club with music from Aaron Oldaker and best-dressed prizes. The races are an amazing opportunity to catch up with friends, socialise and relax. It’s sure to be a fun-filled event.

Where: Eastlake Drive, Lake Albert
Cost: Free entry.

Enjoy Markets by the Lake, with yummy food and drinks available for purchase including bacon and egg rolls, sausage sandwiches, steak and onion sandwiches, cold soft drinks and water. Stalls also include arts, crafts, local produce, children’s activities, entertainment, and much more, all on the shores of Lake Albert.

In 2023, Disney celebrates its 100th anniversary and to honour this occasion, audiences both young and young at heart, will be transported into the captivating world of classic Disney film scores, brought to life through the talents of the students and professional musicians of the Riverina Conservatorium of Music.

Saturday Night Roller Disco!

Where: Bolton Park Stadium, Wagga
Cost: $15 entry, $5 skate hire.

Twin City Skate, the largest roller-skating club in New South Wales, runs regular Saturday night roller discos in Wagga! Think cool tunes, fancy lighting and a giant disco ball! Bring your own skates or hire them at the venue.

Come along and join in German delights. German food, beer, and wine accompanied by German opera. Featuring the stunning voices of Erin Brown, Melinda Bowker, and Lyn Hogan. Enjoy a three-course meal, and complimentary drink on arrival. There will also be prizes for best dressed.

Temora Aviation Museum Aircraft Showcase

When: Saturday 16 September, 10 am – 4 pm
Where: Temora Aviation Museum
Cost: Adults – $30, children – $15, family of 4 – $75.

The Temora Aviation Museum’s September 2023 Aircraft Showcase will feature all serviceable aircraft from the RAAF 100 SQN Historic Flight Collection at the Temora Aviation Museum, which includes the Supermarine Spitfires, Cessna O-2A, Lockheed Hudson, Wirraway, Tiger Moth, Ryan STM S2, and many more visiting Warbirds.

Aircraft Showcase promises to deliver a full day of entertainment for all generations including flying displays demonstrating the aircrafts’ capabilities, informative commentary and music, a guided tour of the static exhibition and interviews with pilots and veterans.

John Lennon was the voice of a generation. Imagine and so many other songs and albums remain poignant and relevant today. John Waters and Stewart D’Arrietta are back this spring with the fabulous Liverpool Band, bringing you the latest instalment of their hugely successful interpretation of Lennon’s music.
