Committee 4 Wagga (C4W) is inviting the city’s newest residents to the Welcome to Wagga event this Saturday (13 September), which will be held in conjunction with the Country Change Wagga Wagga Expo.

The expo will take place at the Transgrid Discovery Hub from 10 am, and attendees can move to the Riverside Precinct afterwards for an informative and family friendly evening from 4 pm.

C4W CEO Scott Sanbrook said the biannual Welcome to Wagga event (held each autumn and spring) was a way of welcoming new people to Wagga and helping them settle into the community.

“It’s a way of welcoming new people to the city,” Mr Sanbrook said.

“It’s also helped them learn more about the place they now call home.”

The Country Change Wagga Wagga Expo is about encouraging people to move to the Riverina region.

Mr Sanbrook highlighted the cheaper cost of living and job opportunities as some of the major “drawcards” for people to tree change, with “liveability” being top of the list.

“You’ve got the same opportunities you get in the metropolitan area, but in a more affordable environment,” he said.

“Our vision is to see what would become the most liveable regional centre in Australia.

“We want to showcase the great features of our city to the new residents.”

Aside from a barbecue with salads and lamb and chicken sausages, the family friendly event has also prepared a variety of snacks and soda, and entertainment for children in the form of ball games.

There is also a children’s playground adjacent to the Riverside Precinct.

Attendees will also be in the running for ‘Welcome Packs’ valued at $100, filled with goods and services from local businesses in Wagga.

This is the third year C4W has held the Welcome to Wagga event, with previous events attracting around 70 attendees.

“It’s a great way for newcomers to get an insight to all the wonderful things Wagga has to offer,” Mr Sanbrook said.

“If you have moved to Wagga in the past 12 months or so we encourage you to come along.”

The Welcome to Wagga event will be held in conjunction with the Country Change Wagga Wagga Expo this Saturday (13 September).

The Country Change Wagga Wagga Expo will be held at the Transgrid Discovery Hub from 10 am to 3 pm, while the Welcome to Wagga event will be at the Riverside Precinct from 4 to 5:30 pm.

Registration for the free welcome event and expo is not mandatory, but is highly encouraged.
