Wagga Wagga Business Chamber is calling for the community to support local businesses by choosing a Shop Local Wagga Wagga gift card for their next gift.

The Shop Local Wagga Wagga gift cards program has been specifically designed to support local businesses in the build-up to the Christmas spending period.

The gift cards can be spent at participating businesses in Wagga Wagga – across a variety of sectors including hospitality, retail, and services – including Knights Meats, Vortex Entertainment, Alison Music, Meccanico Espresso + Wine, The Curious Rabbit, Wagga Wagga Civic Theatre and many more locations, which can be found here.

The gift cards will be available in both digital and physical forms and can be purchased from the Wagga Wagga Business Chamber website, with $20, $50, $100 and $200 options available. The Wagga Business Chamber has suggested that people looking to purchase a card as a Christmas present, do so sooner rather than later as delivery of physical cards can take up to five days to arrive.

The initiative aims to motivate the community to actively choose local over corporate, especially during challenging economic times.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy, and many are facing tough times,” business manager for the Wagga Wagga Business Chamber Sally Manning said.

When considering the multiplier effect, every $100 spent locally generates an estimated $180 in economic impact, benefitting the entire community, Ms Manning said.

“Instead of funnelling money into large corporations, we urge our community to think local first. When you purchase a Shop Local Wagga Wagga gift card, you make a tangible difference in the lives of our small business owners.”

Ms Manning highlighted the importance of small businesses to the local economy and the benefit the gift cards offer them.

“When small businesses succeed, we all succeed,” she added.

“Local businesses are more likely to hire locals and support other local suppliers, ensuring that money stays within our community.

“The Shop Local Wagga Wagga gift card program makes it easier than ever to support local businesses. Whether treating yourself or gifting a friend, these cards help keep our local economy thriving.
