Wagga Wagga City Council has advised motorists and residents to plan for scheduled roadworks for Lake Albert Road and Eastlake Drive this week.
Weather permitting, the council will start the stabilisation work on Wednesday, 17 May, and finish on Saturday, 20 May. The work will be carried out between 6 am and 6 pm.
Wagga Council manager for transport and traffic Jamie Harwood said drivers should consider taking alternative routes.
He also advised allowing extra time for potential delays.
“Although we will keep one lane open, the high volume of traffic on this road may cause significant delays,” Mr Harwood said.
“Council acknowledges this may be inconvenient for many people, but those who frequently use Lake Albert Road will understand the need for this section to be rehabilitated.”
The council said traffic controls would be in place to manage the flow of vehicles during the roadworks.
Lake Albert Road residents in the designated zone will be given access to their homes during the scheduled work period.
The council said it would try to minimise the impact of noise associated with the work for people who came out to enjoy the lake.
Mr Harwood said the contract crew would begin stabilisation work on Bourke Street, between Fernleigh Road and Urana Street, after the Lake Albert Road upgrade was complete.
The Bourke Street work is scheduled for Monday, 22 May, to Monday, 29 May, between 6 am and 6 pm.
However, the final dates will depend on the weather and when the work on Lake Albert Road is complete.
