A Griffith mum and daughter have launched the town’s first mobile charcuterie business, which services the Riverina.

Sarah Atkinson and Meghann Petersen say there’s no family hierarchy in their new business, grazeology.co.

“It’s an equal partnership,” Sarah joked. ”She may be my daughter but she’s not shy to say it how it is, and she often does.

“We make a great team, we are both super organised and are like-minded, especially when it comes to organising events.”

Meghann said she used to manage a cafe and has worked in restaurants.

“I’m a people person and love to have a chat,” she said.

Scones are also on offer.

Sarah was born in South Africa and moved to Australia with her family 19 years ago, settling in Hillston first. They have lived in Griffith for eight years.

In her new venture with her daughter, the pair can cater for weddings, birthday parties, field days, corporate and private events, and the like.

“Our charcuterie cart can feature a variety of cold cuts, cheeses, olives, and sun-dried tomatoes, along with an assortment of fresh breads,” Sarah said.

”We offer plenty of options and always check with customers about any allergies. We can also offer desserts and sweet treats.

“We provide a fully equipped bar cart and can serve alcohol supplied by the customer. We’re also in the process of obtaining a liquor licence, which will allow us to stock and serve our own selection of beverages in the near future.”

Two mobile bar businesses have emerged from Griffith in the past two years. The Sip Society, run by 22-year-old architecture student Abby Anderson, and The Perfect Pour, managed by best friends Kylie Barrington and Laura De Mamiel.

Both have found plenty of opportunities in a town famous for extravagant Italian (and now Indian and Islander) weddings, birthdays and functions.

The newest entries into the mobile catering business are now hoping to make their mark.

Meghann said she loved serving the food as much as putting it together.

“We bring the service as well as the cart. It’s better for customers to have someone there, as we can chat to them and recommend drinks to go with which food,” she said.

“We are equipped to cater for large crowds and events – we have the ability to bring in additional staff.”

While they’ve only just launched, Meghann and Sarah are already thinking of expansion.

“I now have this obsession that we should do a panini bar. Someone suggested it to me and I love how we can mix it around and do what we want,” Meghann said.
