A routine traffic stop on the Sturt Highway at Hay has allegedly uncovered more than 50 kilograms of cannabis, with a South Australian man refused bail following the incident.
At about 1 pm on Thursday (25 June), officers attached to Hay Highway Patrol stopped a Victorian-registered vehicle travelling east through Hay South for a roadside drug test and licence check.
Police said the driver produced a South Australian driver’s licence before allegedly returning a positive roadside drug test for methamphetamine.
Following further inquiries, officers searched the vehicle and discovered two large toolboxes in the rear cargo area.
Inside the toolboxes, police allegedly located more than 100 vacuum-sealed bags of cannabis with a combined weight exceeding 50 kilograms.
The driver was arrested and taken to Hay Police Station, where he was charged with supplying a prohibited drug in a commercial quantity and possessing a prohibited drug.
He was refused police bail and was due to appear before court on Friday 26 June.

Strange, I thought city-based elites like Labor's Communications Minister Anika Wells should fix it. View
