Man to face court after methylamphetamine was allegedly found in vehicle

A 36-year-old man is set to face court after allegedly failing a roadside drug test and being in possession of methylamphetamine.

Police said Narrandera Highway Patrol officers were conducting patrols in Leeton when they noticed a black Land Rover travelling south on Yanco Avenue at about 1:20 pm on 15 November.

Police activated their warning devices and stopped the vehicle for random testing.

The Leeton driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was subjected to a roadside breath test, which returned a negative result.

The driver then underwent a roadside drug test, which allegedly returned a positive result for methylamphetamine.

Police said they had reason to search the driver’s vehicle and allegedly located just over 14 grams of methylamphetamine.

The driver was arrested and taken to Leeton Police Station where he was charged with supplying prohibited drugs.

Police said action in relation to the alleged positive roadside drug test would be taken once analysis results were returned.

He was later released on conditional bail to appear at Leeton Local Court on 10 December.
