A man is in custody after a female police officer was stabbed and punched at a home in Wagga Wagga on Friday.
The policewoman was allegedly attacked in Cutler Avenue, Kooringal, shortly before 2 pm on Friday (16 May).
When the constable tried to stop a man riding a bike without a helmet, she was allegedly punched multiple times in the head before being stabbed in the arm and abdomen with what is believed to be a small screwdriver.
She was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital in a stable condition. She is also being checked for suspected fractures to her fingers and a head injury.
A 31-year-old man was immediately arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station.
The female constable, who is in her mid-20s, is attached to the Southern Region Enforcement Squad based at Wagga Wagga.
