An Albury man has been granted conditional bail following a fatal crash last weekend.

Luke Appleton fronted Albury Local Court today (13 September), charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving (occasioning death).

Police said emergency services responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash along Urana Road, Jindera, approximately 15 km north of Albury, at about 7:35 pm on 7 September.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the male drivers of both vehicles, who were the sole occupants.

The driver of an SUV was trapped in the vehicle until he was released at 9:40 pm. The 41-year-old man died a short time later en route to Albury Airport, where he was due to be airlifted to a medical facility.

Appleton, who was driving a utility, was taken to Albury Wodonga Health, Albury Campus, and in stable condition. He has undergone mandatory testing, where he remained under police guard.
