A 26-year-old man is in court today (4 December) after police allegedly found $18 million worth of prohibited drugs hidden in the door cavities of his car.
Police said Riverina Police District Traffic and Highway Patrol Command officers, with assistance from Organised Crime Squad detectives, stopped a Toyota Corolla travelling south on the Hume Highway near Gundagai at about 9:40 am on Tuesday (3 December).
During a search of the vehicle, police allegedly located 25 kilograms of methylamphetamine and 10 kilograms of cocaine bricks within the door cavities of the car.
The drugs have an estimated street value of $18 million.
The driver of the car was arrested and taken to Gundagai Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of supplying prohibited drugs in large commercial quantities and possessing DECCD to commit serious criminal activity.
The man was refused bail to appear in Young Local Court today.
Police will allege in court the man was attempting to transport the prohibited drugs from Sydney to Melbourne.
