A man has been refused bail after allegedly threatening a Wagga Wagga homeowner with a knife before assaulting him in the city’s south.

Emergency services were called to Tongaboo Lane at about 8:30 pm on Wednesday (24 June) after reports of an alleged assault.

Police allege a 31-year-old man was acting suspiciously at the rear of a property when he was confronted by the 45-year-old homeowner.

The younger man allegedly threatened the homeowner with a knife before assaulting him.

Several members of the public who were nearby came to the man’s aid and called emergency services.

The alleged offender left before police arrived but was located a short time later in Baylis Street with minor injuries.

He was refused bail.
