Man charged with multiple firearms and prohibited drugs offences

An 18-year-old man has been charged with 15 offences after police seized several firearms and weapons from a property in Wagga.

Officers attached to Riverina Police District executed a search warrant at a property on Faye Avenue in Kooringal at about 11 am yesterday (21 December).

Police said during the search of the home, they allegedly located two loaded firearms, a black pistol gel blaster, a green ‘assault rifle’ style gel blaster, a set of metal knuckle dusters, a set of nunchucks, .22 calibre ammunition, several shotgun shells and gel blaster ammunitions, prohibited drugs and several other stolen items.

The items were seized and will undergo further forensic examination.

The man was arrested before being taken to Wagga Police Station and charged with 15 offences, including:

  • Two counts of possessing a shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority
  • Two counts of possessing an unauthorised pistol
  • Possessing unauthorised firearm
  • Possessing ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority
  • Not keeping firearm safely-not pistol/prohibited firearm
  • Not keeping firearm safely-pistol
  • Possessing prohibited drug
  • Two counts of possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit
  • Receive or dispose stolen property
  • Goods suspected stolen in/on premises
  • Deal in or attempt to deal in protected animal
  • Possess three unregistered firearms without licence/permit

He will appear in Wagga Local Court tomorrow (Friday 23 December).
