A man will appear in court today, charged following a pursuit in Wagga Wagga overnight.
Officers from Riverina Police District were patrolling the Ashmont area when they noticed a vehicle travelling without its headlights on at about 8:50 pm on Monday (30 January).
Police said when they attempted to stop the vehicle on Blakemore Street, it failed to do so and a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued to Mangoplah and back to Wagga, and road spikes were deployed twice. The vehicle stopped near the intersection of Baylis and Morrow streets.
Police said the driver was arrested at about 9:30 pm and returned a positive result in a roadside breath test.
The 33-year-old man was taken to Wagga Wagga police station, where he returned an alleged breath analysis reading of 0.300.
The Nowra man was charged with police pursuit – not stopping when directed, driving dangerously, driving with high-range PCA and driving a motor vehicle during a disqualification period.
He was refused bail and is to appear before Wagga Wagga Local Court today (31 January).
