A man has been charged after allegedly fleeing the scene of a serious crash in Temora earlier this week.
Emergency services were called to an area near the intersection of the Goldfields Way and Thanowring Road in Temora following reports of a crash about 1 am on Wednesday (11 January).
Police have been told a sedan and a utility were travelling north along Goldfields Way when the utility left the roadway and rolled several times.
The 24-year-old female passenger in the backseat of the utility was ejected from the vehicle, while the 40-year-old male passenger in the front seat suffered leg and head injuries.
Police say both were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to Canberra Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The male drivers of both vehicles allegedly fled the scene, with the sedan located soon after on Gardner Street in Temora.
Officers from Riverina Police District established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.
Police attended a home on Thom Street in Temora following further inquiries and arrested a 19-year-old man about 12 pm yesterday (12 January).
He was taken to Temora Police Station where he was charged with six offences:
- Two counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous
- Fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing grievous bodily harm
- Cause bodily harm by misconduct, in charge of motor vehicle
- Predatory driving
- Learner not accompanied by driver/police officer/tester.
The man was refused bail to appear before Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Friday 13).
