Police have arrested a 26-year-old man over allegations he was involved in an armed robbery and was also connected to a series of other offences across the Wagga region.
Between 2:30 am and 5 am on Sunday 8 March, a number of cars were allegedly stolen from a unit in Glenroy.
Police allege those vehicles were then used in further offending the same day, including a fail-to-pay incident at a service station in Gumly Gumly, and an armed robbery at a licensed venue on Bolger Avenue, Mount Austin, about 11 pm on the same day.
The following morning, about 2:45 am on Monday (9 March), officers from Riverina Police District located one of the vehicles in Townsend Place, Mount Austin.
Police allege the driver attempted to manoeuvre the vehicle around police before crashing into a nearby tree and fleeing on foot.
The vehicle was seized, and police allegedly located and seized a sawn-off shotgun and a 3D-printed pistol inside the car.
Further inquiries continued, and about 4 pm on Monday 16 March 2026, police from Riverina Police District, with assistance from the Region Enforcement Squad, attended a home in Heydon Avenue, Turvey Park.
Following extensive investigations, a 26-year-old man was arrested at Bathurst Police Station and charged with:
- Being armed with intent to commit indictable offence
- Robbery in company
- Possessing a shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority
- Stalk/intimidating with the intention to cause fear of physical harm
- Driving a conveyance taken without consent of the owner.
The man was refused bail to appear in Bail Division Local Court on Thursday (11 June).
