A man has been charged over a vandalism spree that left a dozen vehicles with smashed windscreens and dented panels in Wagga Wagga on New Year’s Day.
Police were called to Berry Street shortly after 11:30 am, where they found a total of 12 damaged cars in and around the railway station car park.
Police soon arrested a 50-year-old man on Edward Street who was taken to Wagga Base Hospital to be treated for cuts to his hands and elbows.
The alleged vandal was released into police custody and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was charged with 12 counts of malicious damage.
The man was refused bail to appear via video link at Parramatta Local Court on Thursday (2 January 2024).
Many of the vehicles remain in the car park with bloodstained cracks across their windscreens and a note from police confirming that the “damage has been reported” and urging the owners to contact them.
