Man arrested in Narrandera after fatal shooting in Ashmont on Monday

A man has been arrested following the fatal shooting of a man in Ashmont earlier this week.

Just before 3 am on Monday (9 June), emergency services were called to Connorton Avenue following reports a man had been shot during an altercation.

Officers attached to Riverina Police District and NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and located the injured 37-year-old man; however, he died at the scene.

A crime scene was established, which was examined by specialist forensic officers.

Detectives commenced an investigation under Strike Force Cerventes with assistance from State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.

Following extensive inquiries, officers arrested a 35-year-old man at a home on Lady Loch Crescent, in Narrandera, just after 9:30 am on Thursday (12 June).

During a search warrant at the home, police located and seized several clothing items for forensic examination.

The man was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where inquiries continue.
