A man will face court on multiple charges after allegedly crashing into the grounds of Henschke Catholic Primary School.
About 12:45 pm yesterday (26 June), police attached to Riverina Highway Patrol were conducting stationary speed enforcement on Fernleigh Road, Turvey Park, when they observed a Holden sedan crash into the primary school’s fence.
There were no reports of injury.
The driver, a 28-year-old man, allegedly ran through the school before being arrested a few metres away.
A front occupant of the vehicle, a 60-year-old woman, was trapped in the vehicle before being extricated a short time later, uninjured.
The man was subjected to a roadside drug test, which allegedly returned a positive result for methylamphetamine.
He was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where a secondary drug analysis was conducted and sent for further testing.
Subsequent checks revealed the man’s driver’s licence was disqualified until June 2026.
He was charged with driving a motor vehicle during the disqualification period, driving recklessly/furiously or speeding in a manner dangerous, using an unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on the road, using an uninsured motor vehicle on the road, and entering a prescribed premises of any person without lawful excuse.
He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (26 June).
