If it creeps, crawls, snaps or slithers you’ll find it at a Riverina Regional Library (RRL) branch this summer!
The animals are taking over the libraries this summer as Reptiles on the Go! returns to the Riverina.
Reptiles on the Go! is an interactive reptile experience visiting Bland, Cootamundra, Gundagai, Culcairn and Jindera libraries.
The travelling exhibition has become a much-loved holiday highlight of RRL’s summer holiday program with some sessions booked out well in advance.
Reptiles on the Go! allows children to get up close with crocodiles, shingleback, frill-necked and blue-tongue lizards, turtles, frogs and more. They will also learn about snake safety in an age-appropriate way.
The reptiles will be visiting the five locations within the Riverina Regional Library network – Cootamundra, Junee, Coolamon, Bland and Gundagai – on Thursday 9 and Friday 10 January.
For young children, My Pet Dinosaur Show is touring RRL for the first time. Children can expect a fun family show featuring animatronic baby dinosaurs.
The show includes an informative talk about dinosaurs and a chance to dig for real fossils. They will also meet lifelike baby dinosaur models. My Pet Dinosaur Show will visit the libraries between Tuesday 28 and Thursday 30 January. Tickets are $10 or less at each branch.
There are also many arts and crafts activities available at RRL libraries, including making stained-glass effect winged insects. Using clear domed lids and paint pens, kids design and colour their own insects. This activity is free for children aged five to 12 years and is running at Junee, Mulwala, Howlong and Corowa libraries.
Other animal inspired crafts include:
• Dragon and unicorn backpacks at Leeton Library and Cootamundra Library
• Ocean activities featuring aquatic life at Tumbarumba Library
• Puppy and unicorn ‘stuffems’ at Cootamundra Library and
• Koala pillows at Ganmain Hall.
There’s even a Bluey Day at Tumbarumba Library with Bluey crafts, activities and games.
